Our History

How we started: Page and Larry Tootoo welcome you to the Hoge Wood House Bed & Breakfast. We opened in1994 because we liked visiting B&B’s ourselves, and thought it would be a fun way to meet lots of interesting people. That’s right, we’ve been here for over 30 years. We are the only B&B in Wilmington, run this long by the same owners! We’re ready to welcome you, or welcome you back. A little about the house: 407 S 3rd St. was built for Dr. Peyton Harrison Hoge and his wife Mary in 1891. Amazingly, Dr. Hoge drew the house plans himself; he wasn’t an architect, he was a Presbyterian minister! There have been several notable owners, but we have lived here longer than anyone else. The house has been lovingly restored and maintained over the years. It has all the modern amenities, yet retains the charm of a Queen Ann house. Our home is decorated in an eclectic style, using things we’ve loved and collected over the years. We would like to hear your story and why you are searching Bed and Breakfasts in Wilmington, NC. Please fill in the information below and send us, Page and Larry, a message!
